We can see that in both images have a lot of color in them. The image we see on the left is very bright because it is during the daytime. Light colors are used for the background which contrast well with the cool colors of the main characters. There is a little saturation when we look at the leaves in the background. The oranges and yellows stand out and really become part of the scene. This still really doesn’t have a hue that stands out. This is suppose to look like natural lighting because they are technically outside. Since it is daytime, you probably would not think that there would any shadows. The main characters are in a car in the daylight. There shadows on the main characters and in the car since there is no light shown in the car. Because it is so bright, mostly warm colors are shown, and the fact the a huge monster is squished into a car, we as the audience get a happy vibe to it. The symbolism of this still are the monsters in the car. They are in their own space/world and are only looking straight ahead. This shows that they are closed off from what else is out there, until the little girl comes along of course.
If you did not guess already, this is the little girl that comes in and turns the whole monster world upside down. This is when she gets mad at one of the main characters. In order to show the tone, the hue is a very dark blue (also to show it is at night). There is very little brightness because it is suppose toe be at night and it is one of the serious moments in the movie. We do not see saturation because the hue is so strong. There are a lot of shadows because again, it is suppose to be at night and to help the mood. This is one of the more darker part of the movie and the lack-of light emphasizes that. The mood is very serious because of the look on her face and everything else I already explained. The symbolism in this still is her being in a monster costume in order to blend in. She stepped into the monster world and costume (costume symbolizes as the world).
